![]() “Freestyle Love Supreme” starts a weeklong run at Philadelphia’s Miller Theater with Veneziale again on stage. In 2022, in the wake of “Hamilton’s” success, “Freestyle Love Supreme” came to Broadway with Veneziale as a core performer in every show, and Miranda and Kail dropping in some nights to participate. Miranda and Kail worked intermittently with “FLS,” but Veneziale developed into a full-fledged show, not to mention a concept for making TV programs and entertainment shows more creative and original. The gambit was popular on campus, and in 2004, the innovative trio put together a professional called “Freestyle Love Supreme.” The three would relax by doing “FLS” exercises during breaks in rehearsal for “In the Heights.” In their days together at Wesleyan, they began creating and performing improvisational sketches, many of which involved taking an audience member’s suggestion for a topic and composing a rap song about it. Veneziale’s career has intertwined with Miranda’s and Kail’s. Veneziale might not have as much recognition, but he, a native Philadelphian, has been behind the scenes motivating risk and creativity for many TV projects.Īs an actor, he has also been seen on “Sex and The City,” “All My Children,” and most recently as the star of a short-lived series called “Bartlett.” Miranda and Kail have made a mark by being the creator (Miranda) and director (Kail) of two Tony-winning musicals, “In the Heights” and “Hamilton.” Wesleyan University has no problem these day finding alumni about which it can brag.Īt one time, about a two decades ago, it had at least three students who went on to tremendous fame and success in the theater – Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail, and Anthony Veneziale. He presented his case fairly and completely and kept gentlemanly compose when challenged, yelled at, or called derogatory names by a temperamental caller. No matter how strong that opinion or how much it might have to be defended from colleagues or callers that disagreed, Ray never shouted, became abusive, or denigrated the person at the other end of the conversation. It can’t be helped with anyone who gives opinions. Sure, Didinger could get into a controversy or two. ![]()
